Scott Applauds Senate HELP Committee Vote to Advance Nomination of Dr. King
WASHINGTON – Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after the Senate HELP Committee voted to advance the nomination of Dr. John B. King, Jr. to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education:
“I applaud today’s HELP Committee vote in favor of Dr. King to serve as our nation’s 10th Secretary of Education. We have a moral and civil rights obligation to ensure every student has the opportunity to fulfill his or her academic and lifelong potential. As I have stated in the past, there is no one more qualified than Dr. King to lead the Department of Education as it endeavors to fulfill these obligations. I look forward to a vote of the full Senate.”
