Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge Statement on President Trump’s Attack on Women’s Health

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s decision to roll back contraceptive coverage provided to more than 62 million American women under the Affordable Care Act:

“Today’s actions by the Trump Administration are another thinly veiled attack on the right of women to make their own health care decisions. The Affordable Care Act gave millions of women control of their reproductive health and provided preventive services at no additional cost. This new rule eliminates the federal requirement that all health plans must cover birth control without a co-pay, and no longer ensures access to coverage for women whose employer or school can legally opt out. The change would leave hundreds of thousands at risk of losing contraceptive coverage. Women should be just as free as men to make all their own health care decisions, including private family planning decisions.”
