WASHINGTON – Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement today after the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that during the month of December, 292,000 jobs were added to the economy while the unemployment rate remained at 5 percent:
“Today’s job report represents the 70th consecutive month of private sector job growth – extending the longest streak on record. Despite these economic gains, too many working families are still struggling to make ends meet. As we begin this new session for the 114th Congress, we must rebalance our priorities to better ensure that hardworking Americans and their families have the opportunity to prosper. I am confident that by working together in a bipartisan way, we can pass measures to boost wages, help workers to better balance work and family life, and create opportunities to level the playing field for all.”
