Scott Applauds President Obama’s Nomination of John King for U.S. Secretary of Education

 

WASHINGTONRanking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after President Obama announced his intent to nominate Dr. John B. King, Jr. to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education. King currently serves as Acting Secretary of Education.  

 

“I am very pleased that the President has nominated Dr. King to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education. Dr. King has spent his career dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for historically underserved students. As a teacher, devoted school leader and former State Commissioner of Education for New York, Dr. King has the experience to guide the Department in carrying out its mission of educational equity for all. I look forward to working with him to improve educational outcomes and opportunities for our nation’s students.”
