Scott and Hanna to Hold Bi-Partisan Early Childhood Education Briefing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, March 24th, Rep. Robert “Bobby” Scott, Ranking Member for the  Committee on Education and the Workforce, and Rep. Richard L. Hanna, will host a bi-partisan expert panel addressing the importance of quality early childhood education.

Tuesday’s briefing, titled “Ensuring a Strong Start: The Importance of Early Childhood Programs,” will focus on the proven return on investment when families devote resources to quality early childhood education programs. Research shows that quality early childhood education leads to a wide range of short- and long-term benefits, including better educational outcomes, higher job earnings, and lower crime and delinquency.  With one in every four American children born into poverty, the expansion of access to early interventions and affordable early learning programs needs to be a national priority.

Panelists will include representatives from Fight Crime: Invest in Kids; First Five Years Fund; and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  They will discuss the value of devoting time and money into the future of our country by investing in our children’s early childhood education.
