Rep. George Miller Statement on the NLRB Inspector General Investigative Report
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), the senior Democratic member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, issued the following statement today on the release of a National Labor Relations Board Inspector General investigative report regarding Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon.
“As the Inspector General’s report lays out, the NLRB Acting General Counsel made a mistake and acted in a matter in which he had a financial interest. That is unfortunate. While the report notes that there was no evidence that he intended to enrich himself with his actions, Mr. Solomon should have taken greater care to avoid any conflicts of interest. I am encouraged that Mr. Solomon acknowledges that he should have handled the matter differently. I am also encouraged that the agency is taking steps to put in place a better system to prevent this type of situation from recurring. This case should serve as an important lesson for all government employees to accurately understand and comply with the rules and regulations to prevent conflicts of interests.”
