Rep. George Miller Statement on Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis Announcement
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), the senior Democratic member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, issued the following statement after the announcement of Sec. of Labor Hilda Solis' resignation.
“I join working families in congratulating Hilda Solis for her years of service to our nation. As Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis has been a tireless advocate for all hardworking Americans. She understands their everyday struggles. Among other things, her service will be remembered for her critical efforts in helping millions of Americans return to work after the Great Recession, strengthening enforcement of the nation’s labor laws, especially for the most vulnerable workers, and improving Americans’ health care and retirement security. I wish her the very best in her future endeavors.
“I look forward to President Obama nominating – and the U.S. Senate confirming – a successor who will build upon the good work of Sec. Solis.”
