NLRB Nominees Should Receive Speedy Senate Confirmation, House Labor Committee Leaders Say
WASHINGTON – Reps. George Miller (D-Calif.), the senior Democratic member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, and Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ), the ranking member of the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee, issued the following joint statement on President Obama’s nominations today of Richard F. Griffin, Jr., and Sharon Block to the National Labor Relations Board.
“President Obama has nominated two highly-qualified and respected individuals to the National Labor Relations Board today. We hope Senate Republicans end their obstructive tactics and allow these and any additional nominees to be considered. Taxpayers, working people and their employers deserve a fully operational National Labor Relations Board. This is the only agency that guarantees that both employers and employees will have a place to go to have their rights under the law protected and enforced.
“While we believe the D.C. circuit decision on President Obama’s NLRB recess appointments will ultimately not stand, any uncertainty created by the ruling would be cleared up by a speedy Senate confirmation of these nominees.”
