Miller Welcomes Rep. Fudge Back to the Education and the Workforce Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U. S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA), the senior Democrat on the Education and the Workforce Committee, issued the following statement after Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH), was assigned back to the committee to fill the vacancy resulting from the passing of Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ). Fudge will sit on the Workforce Protections and the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittees.
“I am pleased to welcome back to the committee Rep. Marcia Fudge from Ohio’s 11th district. Ms. Fudge first joined the committee in 2009 and immediately made her mark as a strong voice on behalf of her constituents,” said Miller. “While the committee mourns the loss of Congressman Donald Payne, we welcome Marcia’s dedication to rebuilding our nation’s middle class and reigniting the American Dream.”
“I look forward to returning to the Education and the Workforce Committee to continue working with my colleagues on strengthening our education system and focusing on job creation,” said Rep. Fudge. “As we turn the corner and continue momentum toward economic recovery, ensuring that we have a workforce that allows America to compete on a global stage is vital; and making sure our country focuses on a quality education for every child in America, from pre-k to college, is essential. These are the foundations of a great economy, so I am pleased to begin working with the committee on these and other important issues.”
