Miller Welcomes Congressman Altmire Back to the Education and the Workforce Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. U. S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA), the senior Democrat on the Education and the Workforce Committee, issued the following statement after U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire (D-PA), was assigned back to the committee to fill a minority vacancy. Altmire will sit on the Health, Employment Labor and Pensions (HELP) and Higher Education subcommittees.

“I am pleased to welcome back to the committee Congressman Jason Altmire from Pennsylvania’s 4th district.  Mr. Altmire joined this committee as a freshman in the 110th Congress. In his tenure in Congress, he has worked hard on behalf of working families and students. He has fought to make college more affordable and accessible. He is a steadfast advocate on behalf of his constituents. It will be a welcome addition to have him back on the committee."

"Creating jobs and preparing students to enter the workforce are two of the most important issues facing Congress,” said Altmire.  “I am excited to join this very important Committee, and I am ready to get to work improving America’s quality of education and fostering an economy conducive to job growth.”
