Miller Statement on NLRB's Walmart Action

WASHINGTON--Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), senior Democrat on the House Education and the Workforce Committee, released the following statement today in response to the National Labor Relations Board Office of the General Counsel finding merit in and authorizing complaints for unfair labor practice charges that Walmart violated the rights of its employees as a result of activities surrounding employee protests, including unlawfully threatening employees with reprisal if they engaged in strikes and protests.

“I am pleased that the National Labor Relations General Board’s Counsel is being vigilant in ensuring that Walmart workers engaged in lawful actions to seek fair wages and working conditions are not subject to employer threats, interference, or retaliation.  Employees seeking to improve their economic condition through concerted and peaceful action is a bedrock American right that helped build the middle class.  The enforcement of this right is more important now than ever.”
