Miller applauds vote to increase California’s minimum wage

Washington – Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) issued the following comment today after the state legislature passed legislation supported by Gov. Brown to increase California’s minimum wage from $8.00 per hour to $10.00 per hour. Miller, the senior Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee in Congress, is the author of The Fair Minimum Wage Act (H.R. 1010) that would increase the federal minimum wage to $10.10 per hour in three steps.

“Three cheers for our legislators and the governor for passing a bill to boost California’s minimum wage to $10 per hour. Stagnant wages have made economic recovery slow and painful for millions of Americans. When workers are paid fairly, working families and the national economy are able to move forward. Now, it’s time for Congress to follow the Golden State’s lead and raise the minimum wage for all hardworking Americans.”
