Democratic Health Leaders Oppose GOP’s Health Proposal
WASHINGTON – Today, the three House Democratic leaders of the Committees with jurisdiction over health care, Education and the Workforce Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA), Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), and Ways and Means Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-MA) released a joint statement denouncing the Republicans’ partisan proposal regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace:
“The Republicans’ partisan health care package will not undo the years of intentional sabotage they have inflicted on our nation’s health care system. Rather than help people, this proposal fails to stop the Trump Administration’s regulatory rollback of consumer protections and will severely limit women’s access to care and further eliminate ACA consumer protections. It’s well past time for Republicans to stop playing brinksmanship games with America’s health care. Democrats stand ready to work on a comprehensive, bipartisan market stabilization package, but we will not compromise consumer protections in order to do so.”
