Chairman Scott Releases Ed & Labor Budget Reconciliation Bill Text
WASHINGTON – Today, Chairman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) released the Education and Labor Committee’s portion of the FY21 budget reconciliation bill, which enacts President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Under the FY21 budget resolution passed by the House and Senate last week, the Committee was instructed to propose more than $300 billion in relief for students, educators, workers, and families.
“More than a year after the COVID-19 case was confirmed in the U.S., we are still losing thousands of people each day to the virus, millions of workers remain unemployed, students are falling further behind, and an unprecedented number of families are struggling to put food on the table. We must take bold and immediate action to defeat the pandemic and provide relief to our communities,” said Chairman Scott. “The Education and Labor Committee’s portion of the American Rescue Plan will help bring students and educators back into the classroom safely, increase paychecks and strengthen protections for American workers, and address the unprecedented surge in hunger and hardship affecting so many children and families across the country.
“By advancing this legislation tomorrow, we will take another important step to providing our constituents the support they need and deserve.”
