Chairman Scott Helped Hundreds of Constituents Apply for Public Service Loan Forgiveness
To date, roughly 4,000 Virginians have received $233 million in debt relief from the Public Service Loan Program thanks to the Biden Administration
WASHINGTON— Last night, Office of Federal Student Aid and the Student Borrower Protection Center— where they provided constituents with the resources and information they needed to seek Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
The previous Administration did not faithfully implement PSLF and despite the Chairman holding hearings, sending letters, and making public statements, they never took meaningful action to address borrowers concerns.
“The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program was not designed to be a puzzle or a contest. It was designed as a tool to recruit talented people into public service and recognize their contribution to our communities,” said Chairman Scott.
However, in October 2021, thanks to the Biden Administration, the Department of Education announced significant reforms to expand borrowers’ access to the program and finally receive the forgiveness to which they are entitled. As a result, roughly 4,000 Virginians have received $233 million in debt relief from the PSLF programs.
