Improving Access to Baby Formula
Infant formula is essential to a baby’s early life and development. Unfortunately, the nation is experiencing a formula shortage crisis.
In response, Congress passed the Access to Baby Formula Act. This bill will allow families in-need to use their WIC benefits to purchase any safe and available infant formula product that is on the shelves.
Abbott Nutrition’s formula products serve 89 percent of all infants participating in WIC. Unfortunately, after Abbott Nutrition recalled its formula products and closed a manufacturing plant in February 2022, WIC participants were disproportionately harmed as the Abbott products were no longer available on the shelves.
