Media Call on the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act
Agenda
Top Democrats will host a press call to unveil the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act — comprehensive legislation to guarantee public employees’ right to organize a union and collectively bargain. This falls on the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Janus v. AFSCME in the which the Court’s conservatives ignored four decades of legal precedent to undermine the ability of teachers, first responders, and other public-sector workers to negotiate for better pay and safer workplaces.
Directly following the media call, the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled, “Standing with Public Servants: Protecting the Right to Organize.”
